Today I’m in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where U.S. Sen. @CoryBooker is starting the first of a two-day campaign swing in this early-voting state.
“We will either tear each other apart, or we will rise,” @CoryBooker told an audience of several hundred here in SC, after talking about how “Bloody Sunday” on the Edmund Pettus Bridge - where he will be Sunday - has influenced his life. “On that bridge, they did rise.”
“The hip hop generation is my generation,” @CoryBooker says, in response to a question about how he will get out the minority vote.
“I don’t want you walking around here like, ‘Don’t believe the hype.’ I want you to be like, ‘Fight the power!’”
That’s a wrap on @CoryBooker’s public events today in Simpsonville. Tomorrow, he’ll be on the opposite side of South Carolina for a town hall-style event in Charleston, followed by an oyster roast in Summerville.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli attorney general announces corruption charges against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu .
MORE: Israel’s AG says he plans to charge Netanyahu with bribery for promoting regulatory changes worth hundreds of millions of dollars to telecom giant Bezeq in return for positive press coverage. He will also charge Netanyahu with fraud and breach of trust in two other cases.
The final decision on indictment will only take place after a hearing, where Netanyahu is given the opportunity to defend himself. That process is expected to take many months and be completed long after the April 9 elections. apnews.com/78b9a30dc13743…

Sen. @amyklobuchar has arrived in Greenville, South Carolina, where she’ll soon address a room full of Democrats in the conservative Upstate.
About 15 minutes into her speech, @amyklobuchar gets laughs from this room of Democrats when she says she needs to have a “@marcorubio moment” - but enlists some help to open up a water bottle.

1) Here is when states allow Early Voting for the November 6th Election. If a state is missing, there is no Early Voting or Absentee Ballots permitted.

Alaska – 10/22

Arizona – 10/11

Arkansas – 10/22

California – Early voting varies by county but most will begin 10/8
2) Colorado – Every Colorado voter receives a ballot in the mail, but you can still vote in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center if you'd like starting on 10/30

Connecticut – Absentee Ballot in person 10/7

Florida – 10/27

Georgia – 10/22

Hawaii – 10/23
3) Idaho – 10/15 (in some cases, earlier)

Illinois – 10/22

Indiana – 10/10

Iowa – Absentee Ballot (in person) only if you can’t vote before Election Day when ballots are available

This Day in Labor History: September 9, 1739. The Stono Rebellion takes place in South Carolina, the largest slave rebellion and the largest instance of labor resistance in colonial America. Let's talk about the centrality of this to American labor history.
We sometimes don’t immediately think of the history of slavery as labor history, but of course, it’s absolutely fundamental to any understanding of labor history in the American South (and to a lesser extent in the North) both before and after the Civil War.
Slavery was a racialized system, yes, but the whole point of chattel slavery was to provide a labor system. When other methods to acquire that failed, Europeans turned to Africans in large numbers. We simply have to center slavery in our labor histories.
