Ana left the Coast Guard and joined AWS to (eventually) run their service launches. At the time, I didn't know who she was, what she did, or that there was a specific launch team. (2/11)
All I knew was that suddenly I stopped seeing leaks about new launches. I don't mean "they dropped off," I mean someone cut the freaking power. (3/11)
Originally I'd see early leaks come through in documentation pushed too soon, pricing API updates, new endpoints coming online... (4/11)
And one day that all stopped. I first started to see why while waterboarding an AWS SVP trying to extract roadmap information.
"I can't!" he sobbed. "Ana will kill me!" (5/11)
Ana brought order to chaos, and fixed internal teams and processes around something that most people don't stop to even realize exists. (6/11)
Now Ana's moving--she's becoming AWS's Principal Technical PM for the AWS Disaster Response Team--another team that people don't realize exists. (7/11)
But it does exist. aws.amazon.com/government-edu… They help disaster response organizations and governments mobilize in the event of disaster. (8/11)
They leverage the power of the cloud to improve the ability of crisis organizations to respond rapidly, save lives, and process data. (9/11)
It's an amazing team, now getting an amazing person added to the mix. The Launch Team's loss is their gain. Ana will be almost impossible to replace. (10/11)
Or at least I hope she will be. Because I'd really like to get another launch scoop once more before I die. (11/11)
