@ricknphyl For the record, you could play that game with any state for both sides. “If we just got rid of Ohio, Hillary would have won.” I’m just making something up. My point is, you can combine any number of states to claim Trump would have won popular vote. It’s pointless to do.
@ricknphyl We can’t get rid of California or New York and the millions upon millions of people who live there deserve to be heard and their votes matter. Living in a highly populated area doesn’t make them any less worthy of their vote being just as important as Ohio’s.
@ricknphyl Actually, with the electoral college, every vote is not equal. Did you know that Wyoming with its 586,107 residents, their votes counts 3.6 times more influence than those from California’s 39,144,818. I don’t know about you, but what I care about is MY votes influence!
@ricknphyl Why does someone in Wyoming have more power than I do in NJ? Why is a minority speaking for the majority? Honestly, I’m not very clear on the formula they use to get that 3.6 times more influence for Wyoming over California. Math is NOT my area. So I’ll give a link...
@ricknphyl But take it with a grain of salt. I feel like maybe it is no different than what I just said to you about how it’s pointless to say if NY wasn’t there Trump woulda won. I just don’t know if the way the article is explaining it is logical, and not just a cherry picked example.
@ricknphyl Here is a few links so you could really read the information yourself. Maybe you can get a better grasp around the method they use for these claims. I very seriously cannot with anything math or math like! slate.com/articles/news_…
@ricknphyl I'd really like to hear what you think about those. My boyfriend and I argue about this, and we both kind of start changing our minds before we revert back to our original stance. Their are valid arguments on both sides, 100%. I just think democracy should equal majority!
@ricknphyl Also, as my PA neighbor (I believe I'm remembering that right), you are in the 5th most populated state in the country with 12.8 million, per wikipedia. So you are one of those highly populated states, although PA is a swing state right? So you don't get ignored.
@ricknphyl Finally, I swear this is my last thing, PA had an INCREDIBLY tight race. 48.2% was for Trump, 47.5% for Hillary. I mean, that is crazy close, so because of the electoral college, 2.9 million PA voters were heard, 2.9 million were not. The system is no longer perfect!
