1. The Founding Fathers viewed diversity of talents and abilities as desirable, but understood that the survival of our Republic relied on our common national values. This is why citizenship required a commitment to the Constitution and assimilation to our culture.
2. The Founders were in favor of immigration, but they only wanted immigrants that would, as James Madison said, add to the "strength and wealth of the community."
3. As a nation, we have entered into a compact with each other, a compact codified in the Constitution. The Constitution grants the federal government the power to establish a "uniform rule of naturalization"--uniform meaning it's the same for all states, even California.
4. We have a sovereign right to decide who we will allow to live among us and become citizens. Not everyone who comes to the US comes to add to our strength and wealth, some come too mooch, some come to destroy.
5. Anyone who breaks into our country is a thief; they not only violate our laws, but rob us of our ability to secure ourselves against threats by denying us the ability to inspect them. How can we identify threats if we're not allowed to inspect them first?
6. By siding with these criminals, these threats to our security, you oppose the American values you claim to uphold. You stifle the liberty of your constituents, while upholding the interests of criminal invaders. You are as unamerican as the socialism & tyranny you support.
