Of course the Thomas Crown joke I just retweeted made me go back and read the unproduced Thomas Crown sequel I worked on for two years and now I will just be quietly angry until lunch. This is the giigggarrrgh I will bite through steel.
I mean who needs Thomas Crown in nihilistic war with other plutocrats after the end of his relationship with Catherine stealing the Topkapi Dagger to manipulate a government and then recreating the Sinner Man sequence but with 100 red Maseratis though the streets of Dubai? WHO?
This is why I love TV. At least sometimes, occasionally, we *make* TV.
A minor amusing point, we wrote the LEVERAGE pilot at about the same time. This script is the brutally cynical brother of LEVERAGE, but from *inside* the world of that show's bad guys. Jesus, I was angry.

It turns out when conservatives spend 60 years labelling *anything* that is "the opposite of cruelty" as "socialism", people decide to go with "socialism".

Young people are suddenly interested in seizing the means of production. They're just taking you at your word.
"Socialism" right now for young people does not mean the Soviet Union or Cuba. It means "You don't lose your house when you kid gets cancer" or "You don't have to sleep in the parking lot and pee in a jar at work".

Who told them that's "socialism"? *Conservatives* did.
I mean, seriously, do you know how badly you have to fuck up capitalism to get people to dig socialism?

All you had to do was remember Tiberius "Shear the sheep, not skin them." But we let greedy sociopaths run the economy, and here we goddam are.

2/ Harris -- who's admittedly spinning like mad -- says he disregarded his son's advice about corrupt vote gathering because he was ONLY 27. We hear about how adult men in their 30's are "just kids", including Donald Jr.
3/ Is this a generational breakdown or a cultural (southern) or religious (patriarchal Evangelical) or just ... Jesus, we're just limping into the future aren't we.
the only questions is are limping under a load or because we were gut shot decades ago and can't accept it.

1/ RPG note: I will say one of the unexpected complications of the BLADES IN THE DARK system is the number of connections and characters it generates, both on creation and then by locking you in a city.
2/ My half-serious GM rant last night was that I am, with a gaming group who over-invests in NPC's *anyways*, doing an enormous amount of emotional labor. "Each of your PC's is romantically involved with an NPC! I AM MAINTAINING SEVEN RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS ROOM!"
3/ "Other GM's get to ask "how many orcs?", I'm driving over here wondering 'How will the Hitter's cop girlfriend deal with the internal struggle between her job in corrupt Mars law enforcement and her real affection for a criminal?'"

You see franking credits don't only have an immediate impact on tax I can avoid this year. Franking credits open up an awesome loophole that allows me to claw back tax that was paid *decades* ago. For it to make sense you need to know how we Viscounts do things.
So I'm on 200K a year salary. My marginal tax rate is 45% which is quite unsatisfactory! Apart from making political donations there's nothing I can do to reduce my salary and avoid my personal tax rate. I also have shares that pay dividends. My dividends get slugged at 45%.

To take you a little bit back, I got an A in both my PSLE and JCE and 46 point in BGCSE. Everyone in my family said I'd make a good lawyer, they talked me into studying the program, I applied and was admitted to do it. Everyone in my family was happy except me.
All I ever wanted was to be a model, which given my country's stand on it; it wasn't on the cards, so apart from that I'd have opted for political science because of my love for current affairs, but no my family wanted a lawyer and who was I to go against that?
