Slightly obsessed with Emil Mayer’s photographs of pre-1914 Vienna.
Oh look, one of my favourite German words: ‘handschuh’ (glove).
Mayer came from a Jewish family in Bohemia, but converted to Catholicism. After the Nazi annexation of Austria he and his wife committed suicide in June 1938.
They’ve reminded me of the sketches made between 1907-1914 by the Glasgow School of Art teacher Archibald Haswell Miller scribd.com/book/298022850…
