𝓘𝓼 𝓘𝓼𝓪 𝓲𝓫𝓷 𝓜𝓪𝓻𝔂𝓪𝓶 (𝓙𝓮𝓼𝓾𝓼 𝓼𝓸𝓷 𝓸𝓯 𝓜𝓪𝓻𝔂) 𝓪.𝓼 𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓿𝓮?

This is for all of my Muslim brothers & sisters who believe that Jesus is still alive & will return from the skies some day.
As an Ahmadi Muslim, I believe that Isa a.s is ℕ𝕆𝕋 𝔸𝕃𝕀𝕍𝔼. He has passed away & at least 30 𝕍𝔼ℝ𝕊𝔼𝕊 𝕆𝔽 ℍ𝕆𝕃𝕐 ℚ𝕌ℝ𝔸ℕ prove this, numerous 𝔸ℍ𝔸𝔻𝕀𝕋ℍ do so as well, various 𝕊ℂℍ𝕆𝕃𝔸ℝ𝕊 throughout the ages have also believed that ISA HAS PASSED AWAY.
For this thread, I have chosen to explain 9 unique verses in detail while the remaining 22 are shared as a list here. **Please note that Ahmadi Muslims count Bismillah as the first verse of every Surah except Surah Taubah**

Verse 1: [Surah al-Maidah verses 117-118]
These verses show that on the day of resurrection, Allah will ask Jesus if he told his nation to worship him & his mother. He would reply that he did not say such thing & that he was a guardian/watcher over them while he lived among them, but when Allah caused him to die...
then Allah was the Guardian/Watcher over them.

There is a hadith in Sahih Bukhari, wherein, the Holy Prophet s.a quoted the above verse (فلما توفیتنی) about his own self. Non Ahmadis translate (توفیتنی) as "you took me up". Question is, how was Holy Prophet taken up by Allah?
Holy Prophet s.a was taken up by Allah by means of death. Meaning first he passed away and then his soul was taken up by Allah as a result of Holy Prophet's death. Same would apply to Jesus.

Muhammad Asad - a NON AHMADI MUSLIM Scholar also translated above verses the same way.
Interesting to note that every time word توفی (Tawaffa) from باب تفعل is mentioned for someone who possesses a soul & Allah is the ONE who is the performer of the action & there is no mention of day or night, then it always means taking away of the soul permanently through death
However, if there is a mention of Day/Night then it means taking away of the soul temporarily at the time of sleep. This word توفی from باب تفعل is comes 23 times in the Holy Quran. In 21 places it means death (including for Holy Prophet s.a) & in 2 places it means sleep.
Verse 2: [Surah Ale-Imran verse 56]
In this verse again, the same word tawaffa is used [متوفیک] for Jesus a.s.
Ibn Abbas r.a the cousin of the Holy Prophet s.a has translated the word "Mutawaffeeka" as "Mumeetuka" [ممیتک] which means death. (quoted by Imam Bukhari as shown below)
Verse 3: [4:158-159]
Jews used to mockingly state that they have killed Jesus. Some of them believed that they have killed him with a spear while some other Jews believed that they killed him by crucifying him. Allah says they failed in killing him either way. Instead, Allah...
raised him to Himself بل رفعہ اللہ الیہ. Non Ahmadi Muslims translate this as Allah raised him to heaven bodily.
1. Where is Allah so that Jesus was taken in that direction? Allah is EVERYWHERE [2:116]
Going to God never means WITH THE BODY. Just like انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون
simply means that "To Allah we belong & to Him shall we return". Here returning to Allah is mentioned, but no 1 says it means returning to Allah with our body.

2. There is no mention of raising with the body to the heavens in this verse. جسم or جسد words for body are absent.
3. There is no mention of heaven [السماء] in this verse as well.
Jesus survived the plots against his life, later on Allah caused him to die, NOT THE JEWS, as mentioned in 3:56. Remember he died first then his soul reached Allah & his status increased.
look at hadith👇for rafa
Verse 4: [16:21-22]
These verses loudly proclaim that all those that are worshiped besides Allah are DEAD!
According to this verse if Jesus is worshiped then he is dead too.
Among the creation of Allah Jesus is worshiped the most as 2 Billion+ people in this world worship him.
Verse 5: [19:32]
Jesus was commanded to perform salaat and give zakaat for as long as he is alive. Now if he is alive in the heaven then;

1. He must still be praying.

2. He must still be giving zakaat.
My question to you is, what wealth did Jesus carry to the next world & who is he giving it as Zakaat to in the heavens? There is NO needy person in the heavens seeking Zakaat. Nor is there any worldly currency there.

Alive = Giving Zakaat

Dead = Not Giving Zakaat Anymore
Verse 6: [5:76]
This verse makes the following points;
1. Jesus is a messenger of God.
2. All other messengers before him have passed away.
3. His mother was a truthful woman.
4. He and his mother used to eat food. [They are not eating food anymore]
M. Asad translated same
The reason Jesus & his mother don't eat anymore is because they've passed away. Eating is necessary to survive even for the prophets of Allah & their mothers. There was not a single prophet of God who did not use to eat food to stay alive
Alive = Need Food
Dead = Don't need food
Verse 7: [25:21]
Messengers are like normal people. They eat food & walk in the markets.

Verse 8: [21:8-9]
Every Messenger that came before Holy Prophet s.a had to nourish his body earthly through food in order to stay alive. No one was given a supernatural body including Jesus.
Verse 9: [3:145]
When the Holy Prophet s.a passed away, out of their love some companions started saying that Rasool Allah is still alive. Abu Bakr r.a recited this verse and proved that Holy Prophet s.a has passed away just like all the Messengers passed away before him.
If Jesus was still alive, then some1 would have said that Holy Prophet s.a can't be dead because Jesus is alive too. But none said it. Every single companion present agreed with Abu Bakr. This is the 1st consensus among the sahaba after Holy Prophet that all prophets are dead.
the word many is added in ( ) by the translator of the above hadith from Bukhari which is a wrong translation. الرسل means all, not many or some, but categorically speaking every single 1 of them is included therein as per Arabic grammar. Similar verse (6) came above for Isa a.s
There was a 2nd Ijma about the death of all prophets of Allah. This time in Bahrain, when the Muslim tribes started to leave Islam upon hearing the news of the Holy Prophet's demise, a sahabi Jarood Ibn Mu'alla r.a said that the Holy Prophet s.a died like Moses and Jesus b4 him.
Upon hearing this the entire tribe remained Muslim and were saved from committing apostasy.

The above book is by Imam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhab of Saudi Arabia (then known as hijaz) who came a few centuries ago.

3rd Ijma': Imam Hassan r.a stated before sahaba on the night that
his father Ali Ibn Abi Talib r.a was martyred that the soul of his father left this world the same night as that Jesus' soul was raised by Allah i.e the 27th of Ramadan.
Now let’s turn our focus towards the ahadith to find what the Holy Prophet s.a say about the life/death of Isa a.s. If the Quran is proclaiming that Isa a.s has passed away then there is NO way that the Holy Prophet s.a would contradict the word of Allah.
For this part of the discussion, I will suffice on 5 different ahadith that prove that Isa a.s has passed away without a doubt.
Hadith 1: “If Moses and Jesus were alive, they would have no alternative but to follow me” – Ibn Kathir: Tafseerul Quran vol1, page 378
Hadith 2: “Surely death has come to Jesus”
A hadith is quoted in “Asbaab an-Nuzool” regarding the delegation of almost 70 Christians that visited the Holy Prophet s.a in Medina where they held a public debate with the Prophet of Allah.
During the course of this debate, the Holy Prophet s.a presented the following argument to prove that Jesus has passed away. He said that son is similar to his father. You believe Jesus to be son of God. Whereas, you know that God does not die, but death has surely come to Jesus
Hadith 3: “Indeed Jesus Son of Mary, lived to 120 years”

This hadith is mentioned in Kanzul Ummaal, a book of ahadith. Similar ahadith are quoted in other books of hadith and tafaaseer as well.
Hadith 4: “When I went over the second heaven, there I saw Yahya (John) and Isa (Jesus) who were cousins”.
In this long hadith from Sahih Bukhari, we read that during the journey of miraj, the Holy Prophet s.a saw the souls of previous prophets.
It does not mention that Isa was there with body & soul whereas the souls of all others were present.

Daata Gunj Bakhsh r.h in Kashful Mahjoob & Ibn Qayyim in Zaad ul Ma'ad said the same thing that Holy Prophet s.a most definitely saw the souls of the prophets not their bodies
Hadith 5: “Allah cursed the Jews and the Christians because they took the graves of their Prophets as places for worship”
This hadith is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari. According to it, Jews and Christians turned the graves of their prophets as places of worship.
Jews had many prophets but the Christian nation was only sent ONE prophet namely Jesus a.s. Also the fact the Christians do not worship the grave of any Jewish Prophet.
This also proves that Jesus was buried in a grave and that his nation later on started worshiping it.
BONUS
Interestingly, in Tarikh at-Tabri there is even a mention of the inscription on the tombstone of Jesus a.s
“ھذا قبر رسول اللہ عیسیٰ بن مریم”
This is the grave of Jesus Son of Maryam, Messenger of Allah

[تاریخ طبری، ذکر الاحداث التی کانت فی ایام ملوک الطوائن، المجلد ۱]
Summary
Holy Prophet said;
1.If Jesus was alive he would have to follow me.
2.Surely Death has over taken him.
3.He lived to 120 years.
4.Holy Prophet s.a saw his soul on the 2nd heaven along with the souls of other prophets who have also passed away.
5.His grave was worshiped.
Some of the scholars who have believed and stated that Jesus a.s has died are follows;
1. Hadhrat Abu Bakr r.a (quoted above)
2. Hadhrat Ayesha r.a - Jesus lived to 120 years
3. Hadhrat Fatima r.a - Jesus lived to 120 years
4. Hadhrat Ibn Abbas r.a (quoted above)
5. Hadhrat Imam Hassan r.a (quoted above)
6. Hadhrat Jarood Bin Mu'alla r.a (quoted above)
7. Imam Malik r.h (quoted above)
8. Imam Abu Hanifa + Imam Shafi' + Imam Hanbal did not disagree with Imam Malik's view on this subject, hence proving they all believed the same.
9. Imam Bukhari r.h in his sahih brought the statement of ibn abbas (regarding whom Holy Prophet s.a prayed that ibn Abbas be given the understanding of Quran by Allah and this prayer was answered) and did not disagree with it.
10. Imam Ibn Hazm r.h
11. Daata Gunj Bakhsh hajveri r.h (quoted above)
12. Imam Juba'i r.h
13. Imam Fakhar ad-Deen Raazi r.h
14. Imam Abdul Haq Muhaddath Dehlavi r.h
15. Nawaab Siddiq Hassan Khan Bhopalwi
16. Javed Ahmad Ghamdi
17. Muhammad Asad (quoted above)
18. Mufti Egypt - Mahmood Shaltoot - Jesus has died and there is no proof that his body was raised to the heavens (fatawa Mahmood Shaltoot).
19. Ghulam Fareed of Chaachran Shareef r.h - Jesus's soul after his death was raised.
20. Imam Shai'raani r.h also believed that Jesus has died.

These are just to name a few although there are many more scholars throughout the ages who have held the belief that Jesus has died.
Hold on a second! U must be thinking but what about the ahadith that say that Jesus son of Maryam will come in the later days?

We know from Holy Quran & ahadith that Jesus Son of Maryam has already died. This leaves only 2 options;
1.Jesus be brought back to life to come again.
2.Someone else will come representing Jesus who would be similar to him in some aspects and hence would also be called messiah.

There are about 17 verses or so in the Holy Quran that prove that one who dies cannot return to this world/life again. Hadith proves the same thing.
Regarding the 2nd option about another messiah besides Jesus you must be thinking how is it possible to have 2 people with same name. In Arabic we call this Tashbih also called burooz (metaphor).
Let me explain, a person who excels in the virtue of charity, is metaphorically called Hatam of Tai, a person with a philosophical bent of mind is called Tusi, a person who displays capacity for dialectical reasoning is called Raazi.
The fact that the coming Messiah for the Muslims is different from the one who came 2000+ years ago is a fact mentioned in the ahadith as well. Here are the proofs.
1ST:
a.Holy Prophet s.a saw Jesus son of Maryam during Isra’, he had AVERAGE HEIGHT, RED COMPLEXION & CURLY HAIR
b.Holy Prophet s.a saw the second messiah (also called Son of Maryam) in a vision who would come in his ummah. This messiah had BROWN COMPLEXION & LONG STRAIGHT HAIR
This shows that there are 2 different people and not one and the same.
2ND:
Regarding the coming Messiah, the Holy Prophet s.a has stated that he would come from within the Muslims and not from the outside of the Ummah.
a. A hadith in Bukhari says that Son of Maryam would be the Imam of the Muslims and he would be from among the Muslims.
b. A hadith in Sahih Muslim says that he would lead the Muslims from among them.
This shows that the coming Messiah would be a person from among the Muslims who would resemble Jesus and hence would get the name Messiah son of Maryam.
3RD:
Scholars of the Ummah have stated in the past that coming Messiah will not have the same body & soul as Jesus Son Maryam who came 2K+ years ago. Rather this promised messiah will have a different body (meaning a different person altogether).
Book Iqtibasul Anwar states same
4TH:
The coming Messiah is also going to be called Imam al-Mahdi. And regarding Imam al-Mahdi Muslims believe that he will be born in this Ummah and not borrowed from elsewhere.

a. There is no Mahdi except Isa.
b. Isa will be the Imam al-Mahdi, a just judge and an arbiter.
c. A detailed essay on this topic (albeit in urdu but with original Arabic quotes and sources mentioned) is shared for those that are interested.

d. Shi'a Muslims also believe the same thing. Here is a reference from their book Bihaar al-Anwaar (look at the attached pic)
5TH:
a. Imam al-Mahdi has been called a Khalifa in the Ummah of Holy Prophet s.a
b. Coming Messiah has also been called a khalifa in the Ummah of Holy Prophet s.a

Regarding 2 khalifas at the same time in the Ummah, the Holy Prophet s.a has said, do the bai’at of the 1st...
.... and kill the 2nd. Therefore, one is left with one option that Messiah and Mahdi are one and the same.

Last but not least, if all that I have mentioned above is true then where did the belief that Jesus went to the heavens bodily come from?
Imam Hafiz Ibn Qayyim in Zaadul Ma’ad says that the belief that Jesus was raised bodily in the heavens is false. And in Fathul Bayaan, it is further mentioned that this belief is false and it came with the Christians (when they started to convert to Islam in greater numbers).
In Summary, the Holy Quran, ahadith and many of the ulema of the past & the present, all are in agreement on the following points;

1.Jesus lived a long life after surviving crucifixion.
2.Jesus has died at a very long age (120).
3.He was not alive at the time of the Holy Prophet
4. One who is dead cannot return to this life/world.
5.The belief of Jesus ascending into the heavens bodily came from Christians.
6.Holy Prophet s.a mentioned 2 different messiahs in his ahadith.
7.Promises regarding the 2nd coming of Jesus would be fulfilled by another individual who would resemble Jesus in certain aspects
8.Imam Mahdi/Messiah are 1 person
9. Imam Mahdi/Messiah will be born from among Muslims
10.He would be a khalifa of the Holy Prophet s.a in this Ummah
The founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Islam (pic attached) hasn't claimed anything more than what has already been mentioned by various scholars of Islam already.

Sadly, scholars in this day & age hide these facts from the public.
