Last night's Special Report served up a case study in what the Fox "news side" actually does: Incremental, deceptive stories pushing right-wing narratives that provide grist for the primetime talkers: mediamatters.org/blog/2019/03/1…
Basically the network pushed along a GOP congressman’s nonsense effort to create a new scandal about the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
The right-wing theory is that DOJ “ordered” the FBI not to charge Clinton. The whole thing false apart when you stop ignoring the fact that the FBI investigates crimes and the DOJ charges them, and that DOJ IG explained all of this nine months ago.
But Special Report wanted to make a scandal of it so they did. Sainted "real journalist" Bret Baier was asking if it shows "two tiers of justice" -- the separation between him and Sean Hannity is basically a question mark. All three primetime hosts then picked up the story.
And by this morning, this was happening:
The Fox "news side" isn't a discrete entity that somehow salvages the rest of the network. It's a key cog in the propaganda machine, always has been, always will be.
