White nationalism is the lie that says Muslims, immigrants & LGBTQIA neighbors are a threat to America. Its walls, travel bans & denials of equal protection are today’s Jim Crow laws—white supremacy as policy.
In the civil rights era, KKK terrorism was always a minority position. But MLK pointed out that the “good white people” who condemned KKK violence w/out challenging Jim Crow laws were the real obstacle to democracy.
We cannot truly lament the attacks on Mother Emmanuel, Tree of Life Synagogue & Christchurch’s mosques without also uniting to oppose Trump’s racist wall, his Muslim travel ban, & this admin’s denial of equal protection under law under the guise of “religious freedom.”
