Everyone looking thrilled to be @GreaterCambs Executive Board
Lots of use of the word 'opportunity' already
Big thumbs up for the new boss @Stagecoach_East re being more open minded and progressive
Electric buses are coming. Charging stations need to be located near the city - but no comments as to where that might be
Moving on to item 7, Future Investment Strategy. "Ambition" appears to be the buzzword here. Oh and a "transformational" too
Item 8, Milton Road. @vidagoldstein71 asks that the LLF is kept abreast of progress. The fact she even feels she needs to ask is concerning. Also a request for biodiversity schemes. Again, surely that should be a given ...
Oh and for assurances that the money intended for landscaping does really exist
And for assurances that @GreaterCambs and @CambsCC officers actually talk to each other
Discussion of this also fits with Mitcham's Corner and the top end of Milton Road beyond the scope of this scheme.
Cllr Bates very keen that construction arrangements should be transparent and developed in conjunction with residents
Item 10, Biomedical Campus transport. Peter Blake says there is no magic solution ...
Cllr Ian Bates describes the report as a "starter for ten" and asks what the Campus is going to do about it! Unbelievable - how long has this man been in a position to deliver progress here?
@AidanVdeW notes that infrastructure is *still* being developed on the Campus which does not provide for cyclists
@lewis_herbert also points to the responsibility of the Campus partners to "take ownership". Have to say I am surprised by the degree of buck-passing going on here
plus "lack of joined up planning". Why has this happened?
Cllr Wotherspoon on behalf of the Joint Assembly says we mustn't disadvantage car users because the site is difficult to access by public transport
And @lewis_herbert says not everything should be centralised on the Campus, which is a bit counter-cultural ...
Accusations from South Cambs audience members that @GreaterCambs is biased towards city-centric perspectives. Oakington parish council worried about the impact of the proposed rural travel hub ...
... but the behaviour he is objecting to appears to be emanating from Cottenham residents ...
... Oakington residents appear to be requesting a degree of privilege regarding impacts which is certainly not afforded to the residents of Queen Edith's, who are deemed to be fair game for anything the PTB wants to push forward
Passionate speeches from local representatives which appear to be swaying the discussion here
"I feel quite uncomfortable that we are imposing something" - Claire Ruskin
@lewis_herbert "The host has a say"
Cllr Wotherspoon pours further cold water on the scheme
And the decision is to go away and discuss the standing proposal and possible variations
