While researching Book 2 I’ve discovered a fun fact.
The author of almost every Daily Mail legal aid fake news piece from 2008-2017 was Home Affairs editor James Slack.
He also wrote the Enemies of the People headline.

Honestly, if she was still going to be in office in 2020, I could write this entire book just about the damage that Theresa May has done to the rule of law. Her long-standing contempt for the constitution of a country that she claims repeatedly to speak for is almost unrivalled.
Obviously this story is far from the first of its kind. But it’s a depressing indicator of the frequency of the revolving door b/w “independent” journalism and the corridors of government that I, as someone who pays a bit of attention to bad law reporting, missed this at the time
