The “act of conversion” is just that, an act behind which exist mitigating circumstances
Conversion is the most non-plural of rights. It just doesn't make sense in a pluralistic society . Your civic identity begets one one's rights & not the other way around.

A country like India with a cultural identity where religions exist with no space for "conversion" 1/n
In such a case, conversion has no core meaning , even & especially to an individuals civic identity where the state has no motivation to get in. Infact, it can even ascribe to derecognize the particular act of conversion 2/n
@SushmaSwaraj #HinduGirls

Finally, Coming to Pakistan, Pakistan is infact doing as it's nature. Their core state is Muslim-last I checked- where civic identity is closely intermingled with their faith & that involves conversion 3/n
Frankly, @fawadchaudhry's only fault is being brash in handling the issue #HinduGirls

He's faultless, as conversion is part of his & their cultural identity. There's no wrong around a Core Aspect of their demographic creation i.e Conversion-culturally&historically- Pakistan 4/n
The world frowned upon #Christchurch's young man emotionally invited the PM

The world frowned on #HinduGirls happened in pakistan & their Min. hyperventilated to a simple cautious query by @SushmaSwaraj 5/n
Ppl frowned on #Hadiya - a tiff that broke apart a daughter & her family -cautiously skirting topics of conversion colored over with issues of adulthood/choice/marriage etc. 6/n
The world frowns on issues surrounding many religions, yet stares back confused & drawn into identity, equality, freedom & othr internal debates of a "universal character"; unknowingly bearing witness to issues of their OWN ppl in other places & states of religion, yet clueless 7/n
Conversion is not a universal act but almost always an act cos of a series of mitigating circumstances.

Best example? - Existence of many religions where this doesn't stand any test of meaning or truth or even myth/stories! 8/n
At best, conversion or passover etc. is an internal & constantly changing state of being - not some external identity inducing or fulfilling movement!

The world needs to stop frowning. Every1, not just leaders - as education is the core of religion, isn't it?

Addendum 1:

It is also not a natural phenomenon or gets you anything besides endearing yourself to a community - like facebook posts these days!

You are already equal in the world from birth. You aren't preordained into another path from a wrong path you were issued earlier.
Addendum 2:

Your mindset, your culture - sure, you can be ashamed it but the reform at a personal level & cultural level also comes from you.

Don't ever be so ashamed by some past you didn't control that you think "conversion" will help you escape. Find yourself. Find you.
Addendum 3:

Validation & approval from home/community -Feels nice, but history is witness that a lot of you choices anyway that are engendered by "others" (doesn't matter who)

Don't whittle away what other major choices you have to make in life (Here I don't mean marriage etc.)
Dont let humility make you think less or more of yourself.

A lot of the above is stuff ppl of the world have shared/experienced. Why look for the source of quotes? A quotable person makes you secure or humble because u live like them or per guidance - as against how you learn?
