It’s been clear for two years that 1) UK redlines were irreconcilable with UK aspirations - from “frictionless trade” outside the single market & customs union to “easiest trade deal in history”: all bollocks 2) everyone would eventually run out of road, and have to face reality
May ploughed ahead, every day a new slogan. Some ministers put their heads in the sand hoping it would somehow go away, others quit to promise even greater fantasies, and much of the UK media misreported and cheered along as if it were a game
The result is that Britain is now faced with a shitshow of epic proportions.
