Some stats about the ride-sharing market, on the week of the $LYFT IPO. (via Susquehanna).

1. The top nine largest US metro areas account for 70% of rides taken, though only 23% of the population.
2. Taxis had 99% of the ride-sharing market in 2012. Now they have 13%.
3. US consumers spend $1.2 trillion every year on transportation. And despite torrid growth, ride-sharing accounts for less than 5% of it.
