/Let's invert the Barr process this am, rewriting it to offer areas of concern or ongoing interest which were discovered during the course of the investigation. First, we are concerned with the lying and crimes committed by so many top Trump aides. politifact.com/truth-o-meter/…
/There is a great deal of evidence that the President repeatedly broke American election law, essentially cheating his way to the White House. Further examination required here, discussion abt legitimacy of his tenure and concept of remediation needed.
/While we are not recommending indicting the President for conspiracy, we are deeply concerned about Trump's team repeated interaction w/Russians; refusal to inform FBI; repeated lying abt these contacts/attack on US; pro-Russian tilt since election.
/We are also deeply concerned by ease in which Russian agents infiltrated highest reaches of GOP, and the refusal of current party leadership to acknowledge this penetration, work to prevent from happening again. washingtonpost.com/local/legal-is…
/We are also deeply concerned abt the many possible financial crimes the President and his companies may have committed over many years. These have been referred to others for further consideration and possible prosecution. motherjones.com/politics/2019/…
/There is a great deal of evidence that the President obstructed justice, something we will leave to Congress to consider. To be clear - the President's continued refusal to acknowledge the Russian attack is a grave, dangerous betrayal of the nation. politico.com/story/2019/03/…
/We are also deeply concerned abt evidence that foreign nationals were able to illegally contribute monies/penetrate the Trump inaugural committee. Given the recent news fr Mar-a-Lago, thorough examination of President's security practices required now. thedailybeast.com/federal-prosec…
/While our investigation has come to a close, there are many others areas prosecutors are looking into, and areas which Congress should examine. Further information may come out in the many ongoing trials and investigations underway. This process is far from over.
/Perhaps our greatest concern is the President's refusal to accept that Russia interfered in our election on his behalf. This refusal has prevented our system from taking practical steps to prevent it from happening again, leaving the nation unacceptably vulnerable, unsafe.
/Congress must also now debate what happens when we know a POTUS has won the White House w/the help of a foreign power and/or by breaking a significant # of election laws/cheating. What is remediation? Is prosecution required, necessary? A thread: End.
/New from @KenDilanianNBC, a reminder of the gravity of what Mueller report is about. Deep penetration of Trump campaign/GOP establishment by the Russians.
