#USVisaInterview
US consular officers would really like to see that applicants are honest, stay for the authorized duration and come back promptly after your trip. Whether your application gets accepted or rejected, visa interview has factors involved in whether ur visa gets approved or not.
1. Dress well (I mean formally). Your appearance should convey who you are. If you're a student, dress like one. And if you are a business/executive, you should look like one.
2. Arrive early. It's very important and you don’t want to arrive late sweating during your interview just because you got stuck in Lagos traffic. This could get u nervous. If u are coming in from outside Lagos, ensure u book a hotel close to American Embassy prior to the date.
3. Be civil, don't go arguing with the consular and do not ask unnecessary questions. Do not unnecessarily elaborate your answers as this may sound desperate in your path. Be guided!
4. Don’t show signs of nervousness such as twinkling of eyes, rubbing of fingers as that may go against you. Behave and refrain from unnecessary body language. Some of them are not interested.
5. Explain your travel plans in details as correctly filled on your application form. Your hotel name, places you plan to visit, when you plan to leave and shopping. Etc. Be accurate, if you forget your travel plans then who will take you serious! Remember, remember.
6. Be confident in your answers and avoid giving unnecessary information. Always reply with correct answers. All record during the application and details of the answers given in your interview are computerised and stored for long.
7. Practice your English as often as possible. This will help you communicate with the consular officer well. There are many ways you can practice, watching American TV shows, reading and listening to your favorite US songs. Etc.
8. Visualize yourself getting your visa approved. Like, picture yourself completing a successful interview. This will give you a mental support and a positive outlook.
9. Talk about your family and ties to your home country. The consular officers often times ask about the ties to your home country. I know, this is done to have enough things to hold you back like business, job, marriage and property's that will eventually make you come back.
10. For students going for studies, you have to know about your university and why you got attracted to taking a degree from the school. You could go further praising US education system and how it's going to benefit your career. Be clear that u will return home after graduation
10 A. Explaining further. It is important to answer common questions about like: what career goal is after you graduate, what you are going to study, and how beneficial it's going to be for you country, and others similar to these.
11. Please talk about your family. If you have a spouse or children, make sure to mention them and clearly explain how they will be supported while you are in the United States.
12. Stay positive. Be confident, stay calm and smile. Please project a positive and confident image, and I assure you are going to have a successful visa interview.

Good luck and all the best.
