In December, DHS sent Congress a risk-based plan for improving border security. Since then, Trump declared a national emergency and at least $1 billion from the Pentagon's budget has been shifted to fund fencing. The report still hasn't been made public: americanoversight.org/american-overs…
In March, we filed a FOIA request along with @ACLU_Mass for the border security plan. DHS still has not provided the requested document. Yesterday, we sued. masslive.com/news/2019/04/a…

The White House ordered Personnel Security Director Carl Kline not to appear before Congress, without asserting any kind of executive privilege to account for the administration's defiance of Congress’ constitutional prerogatives. americanoversight.org/white-house-de…
By following White House orders to not appear, Kline is now open to being found in contempt of Congress. Oversight Committee Chair Elijah Cummings has said that he plans to schedule a contempt vote.
Rather than asserting executive privilege, the White House instead has indicated it is ignoring Congress’ authority as an independent and co-equal branch of government. americanoversight.org/white-house-de…

Rule 6(e), which Barr cited, prevents the disclosure of grand jury material. But Barr can seek court approval to unseal the grand jury information — as the special prosecutor during the Watergate investigation did. americanoversight.org/a-guide-to-bar…
The redactions on the basis of personal privacy must be weighed against public interest. And in this case, the public's interest is so great that Barr should only redact that information in the most limited of circumstances.

1. We are offered two distinctly different messages in response to the political actions and climate of the Trump era. Two fundamental philosophies that will shape the course of our country:

We Are Better Than This
vs.
It Doesn't Matter, We Won
2. One, an optimistic appeal to the integrity of the people of our country, offers hope for the future. The other hints at a slippery slope with no bottom. The end justifies the means no matter the cost. I find it doubtful this dark message is what Republicans teach their kids
3. There's no daylight between Trump and #GOP leaders who've have had 2+ years to decide who they are - those of character have already left the party. The rest have gladly molded themselves into Trump’s vision, fully embracing fear-mongering, nationalism, division and lies.
