As a Reddy, I can tell a few things about why Caste is a thing in Politics.

Living in a society, everybody wants to have something in their bag to be proud about, to be talked about. There can be anything in that bag, your job, your doings, your work, your ideas, or your caste.
When you have Caste in your 'Bag of Achievements or Identity', you'd want that Caste to have a 'Good' tag, you'd want it to possess a respect in the people, you'd want it to have some value to be held in that Bag..

If your caste has a 'bad' tag to it, one wouldn't embrace it.
So, since they want their Caste to have some significance, they'll do everything they can, be it Politics, Business or Service.. They want to make their Caste proud while also making a Name for themselves in whatever field they're in.
In that process of making their Caste proud and significant in the Society, they'll start only encouraging their Caste people, in the offices, or any field, it's not that they hate the other caste, but it's just their love for their Caste.
And this is pretty evident in everything, from selections in local Cricket teams, to the selection of your friends, to the selection of your leader...
This is really undesirable for a Society.
You can do good stuff and give some credit to your Caste to make it proud/significant if you want, but, in that process you shouldn't do anything that harms others' work or effort..
Also, when Caste is in your 'Bag of Achievements or Identity', you'll have a nice feeling, dopamine rush, whenever something good is added to that Caste which is in your 'Bag'.

This Dopamine Rush is why one masturbates/loves/cuddles/craves for likes on SM/kills or does anything.
So far, this is basically why one cares about Caste.

More to this... (specifically regarding Politics)
Human's have this, 'showing one's power'/ dominance thing since we were early human beings.

Those thigh slaps, twirling the mustache, beating the chest and many other acts of an 'Alpha Male' are there in Humans since long back.

Here, the New Tiger is shown dominance.
Here, NTR tries to show his dominance through his action of pointing his Bloodied Machete, and the police steps back.
Here, the villain's son kicks that chair off trying to show his dominance, but Varun comes back and overshadows him by showing his larger dominance through words.
In the above examples are just confined to an individual, and when it comes to a collective thing like 'Caste' there are other methods of showing that 'Alpha Male' characteristic or showing that dominance.

Specific to AP; that dominance of a 'Caste' happens through Politics.
So, if a caste-specific party wins, it's just a feeling of the other caste people that this Caste is greater or something.. though, it ain't.

But, objectively, when a caste specific Party wins, that caste gets the Power, and this power is ill-ly used to favour only one Caste.
This inequality in Power-usage is what provokes/kindles other immediate dominant Castes. And this causes/forces them to use their Caste in politics too, this causes them to also do the 'same mistake' (inequality) that they were provoked for..
And this cycle (no pun intended) continues, this dominance show continues, but no one admits that they are doing it to show their Castes' dominance (ఉనికి చాటుకోడానికి).

In this process of Politics, the problems of public are side-lined, which is undesirable.
Externally, they say Caste is not in their Factors.
Internally, Caste is their primary Factor.

In seat distribution, in promotions, in a party worker sitting beside or further away or down on the ground, in ministries, in taking one closer or away... Caste is a Factor.
There are more things other than just "having a 'good' tag to your Caste" that I told earlier about why these Castes are supported politically...
That is:
Me being a Reddy having connection with YCP, if I get caught by the Police for not having a Driving License, I have way better chances of getting away if YCP is in power by just a phone call.

This can be applied to bigger illegal things too..
Being a Reddy while YCP is in power gives some sort of leverage to almost all the Reddys apart from the illusionary dominance we get..

Reddys get better Govt. contracts, they can show off in front of other castes, they can get away with petty crimes, etc..
This is really the situation... And this should stop...
As a counter, one can say that these two castes' population is very little. But... aren't they also the most influential and rich? How did they become rich? Partly, it's because their caste people became the CMs and got the important positions.
If you look at the rural areas, there are people who still think they are weak and that they have to depend on these rich and influential people in their villages, which most of them are Reddys and Kammas.
People with little knowledge about the world and little free thought, people who are dependent on their Village Heads, are influenced to think TDP or YCP is the right party to vote for.
That's how these Caste-Parties got power. For a long time, these Castes were influential, and today, in the coat of democracy, they act like they are gaining votes organically. But deep down, they also know it's because of the nurturing that their ancestors did to other castes.
This is it basically...

I am against Caste Discrimination, but I am not against these Castes..

And, yes, I generalized, because of the majority factor.

Ideally, Nationalism will turn out to be as bad as Casteism too, but it has a lot of time, a lot.
@ashok_dammu @chilll_bruh @ChhBong @TylerDurden_100 @adwaitology @urstruly_ArkA @ImSuperTramp1 @Placidwolff @UnprovenGenius @iProfessor3 @VjDoli I know it's pretty long, but that's what it took me to explain clearly..
I guess it's worth reading.. and sharing..
