1. Does October really make a difference? Theoretically allows May to wrap up phase one before Tories officially have another chance to oust her
2. But it's not clear that it's enough of a delay really to have a significant go at a new approach - nor is it short enough to apply a tight deadline to achieve unlikely success in cross party talks
3. Most important thing tonight is that UK is NOT leaving on Friday without a deal - but will malcontents in Tory party think October deadline is a big enough window to try to move the PM out, have a leadership contest and install a new leader with a different tack
4. It is enough time for a leadership contest - minister already in touch to say it's enough time to start competition after Easter, install new leader by early summer, PM stays on for now in name only, with new leader in place within months

1. PM evidence at liaison committee about to start - MPs primed with questions on Brexit - May about to arrive - if you are as much as a nerd as me this is a popcorn moment - will PM commit any news or just try to hold her lines ?
2. Will the PM give anything away on how far she’d move on Customs in talks with Labour ? Will she reveal any of plans on when she will bring back next Brexit vote ?
3. Not if it goes on like this ! Hilary Benn asks first question on whether no deal ferry contracts have been cancelled - May steamrollers them by ‘offering’ to set scene first of all. Wollaston asks her to be brief, Benn raises eyebrow...and bingo, that’s the first few mins gone

1. While cross party talks rumble on in Westmin, some movement for @BritishInEurope and @the3million - after meeting with Brexit Sec and MP @AlbertoCostaMP , govt has promised to reply to Michel Barnier to ask for assurances on reciprocal rights
2. Costa says govt must 'insist on protection of 5 million people's rights in absence of withdrawal agreement being passed' - and he'll continue to press PM to write to Tusk to push heads of govt to get the Commission to carve out citizen's rights from rest of Brexit deal
3. Separately, sounds like cross party talks went better today - a long way off any breakthrough, and fair to say expectation is low that there will actually be a deal in the end, but mood seems better

Ministers calling for leak inquiry into Huawei discussions from National Security Council, one says NSC meant to be the ‘holy of the holies’- as many as 6 planning to write to No 10 about leak + some expressing concern at decision
Another minister expressing real fury that what has become routine leaking from Cabinet has now happened from NSC - by chance Intelligence Cttee meeting tmrw, seems v likely they will want to examine it
Nicholas Soames says inquiry must be a criminal one - and that leak will ‘cause our friends and allies to wonder if we can be considered reliable - whoever is responsible should be dismissed the Queen’s service’

While I don’t disagree that flexible work would benefit women (and others!) in some sectors, we need to think deeper at what a gender-responsive labour strategy really looks like. (Get ready, folks. I feel another twitter thread coming on)
Flexible working arrangements are one strategy that can really make a difference for some professions and jobs - especially those that involve working in office settings. But are these approaches available to everyone at the workplace, not just professionals or white collar jobs
What about workers with administrative jobs, cleaners or other roles? Are they afforded the same flexibility and control over their working hours? Does a reduction of work time mean a loss of benefits as well? Is this only workable for the salaried vs those with hourly wages?

one simple but nice yukon potato dish especially if the yukon potatoes are small is to do the smashed potato thing here is what i do especially when i do not want to do a lot of cleaning up afterwards

i set the oven to 375 and then toss the yukon gold potatoes in a ziploc bag with some olive oil and some salt until they are all coated and then just dump them onto a foil lined cookie sheet and let them just get kind of puffy and maybe a bit scorched on the bottom it is fine
then pull out the cookie sheet and set the oven to 475 and use a glass cup to smosh them down not so hard they break apart just so they get smoshed if they break u should put them back in the oven u want them pretty smoshy
