This by @jamesrbuk is good on Assange and teasing out the issues. My view atm:
👩🏻‍⚖️ It’s right he account for skipping bail, if that means prison that’s a matter for the courts
👩🏻‍⚖️ US extradition is concerning for human rights esp free speech. But we don’t have a lot of info yet

@jamesrbuk There is an interesting human rights argument,which may be available to Assange that his extradition poses a real risk of breaching his right to free speech, equivalent to the Abu Qatada argument about fair trial rights. Is there a precedent for that in an extradition case?

Some thoughts on the Assange indictment dated 3.6.18 but now unsealed (justice.gov/usao-edva/pres…)

I think there are potential serious implications for free speech and freedom of the press (thread)
2/ The indictment relates solely to the download by Chelsea Manning between Jan and May 2010 of hundreds of thousands of classified documents using her "top secret" security clearance which Wikileaks then published over the next year or so
3/ Assange's role appears to have been to assist Manning in cracking a password which would allow her to set up an alternative user account making it harder for her to be caught for downloading the files

Does anyone else find it a little odd that Labour are going to bat so strongly for Assange?
I suppose he sits perfectly in the nexus of anti-American, ‘anti-colonialist’ foreign policy which Labour’s front bench goes for. I’m guessing that if Labour become government relations with America will become a lot choppier
I do think that this case will bring up important free speech issues. But it is unusual for the opposition to get so quickly stuck in on this kind of thing, and it is hardly unimportant that he is about to go to prison for skipping bail for a rape investigation arrest warrant

For me this part of the Scruton interview is inexcusable and it was correct he lost his government post.
According to Wikipedia, Islamophobia was first used as a term almost a century ago. Maybe earlier in French
I found a dicey site claiming Islamophobia was invented by the Muslim Brotherhood to stop people criticising Islam, but that appears to be a conspiracy theory.

People of public prominence should stop saying it doesn’t exist or is invented to stop people criticising Muslims.

While we're on the subject of Epic, let's talk about boycotts and review bombing. Because there's something you need to consider. If your boycott works and an exclusive doesn't sell, it won't matter.

Epic will have already got what they paid for; cutting off Valve's revenue.
Review bombing, sending hate to individual developers, it's not just a horrible and reprehensible thing to do, but that is simply not going to work. It's lashing out in anger, and at the wrong targets. A double whammy of shitty!

This is a bad look:
I'm upset that Outer Worlds is an Epic exclusive, there's quite a few indie titles that I'm upset about too, even more so. But my not buying them doesn't matter to Epic/Tencent. Even if every game that gets bought as an exclusive bombs spectacularly, they won't matter.

Moreno says UK officials claim their constitution forbids them extraditing anyone to a country where they could face the death penalty. And yet UK extradites people to the USA all the time! UK and USA repeatedly changes laws to attack @wikileaks!

#ASSANGE even "tested out the translator to see how his remarks would be translated. He made several statements in English and then declared that the level of translation was insufficient. The judge then decided to suspend the hearing."
#ASSANGE lawyer Carlos Poveda said: "One of his concerns was that if he made a statement, it could be interpreted as a transgression of his special conditions. What a contradiction!"
