Businessweek's new cover comes just days after I wrote a detailed piece explaining how everyone is fooled by the "low inflation" myth and that inflation is in asset prices (ie., dangerous bubbles). See my take:

This "low inflation" myth is a meme that is absolutely everywhere now. It's causing economists to demand that interest rates stay too low for too long even as asset prices are bubbling up to the moon.

Economists are *completely* ignoring asset bubbles.

Belief in the "low inflation" myth is typical of book-smart PhD economists who have absolutely ZERO common sense.

Those are the types who completely missed all the warning signs of the housing bubble and are missing all the signs of today's bubbles.

Pinterest is yet another multibillion dollar profitless unicorn like Lyft, Uber, WeWork, etc. This unicorn phenomenon is a byproduct of central bank stimulus. It's nothing more than a bubble. Most unicorns and startups will prove to be malinvestments.

There are so many of these damn unicorns popping up out of nowhere that it's impossible to keep track of and comment on them all.

But here's the only thing you need to know: they are acting as a holding container for central bank liquidity that is sloshing all over the globe.
I feel like I'm playing "whack-a-mole" with all these damn unicorns. They can all go to hell, as far as I'm concerned.

I hate them because I know what they represent: the coming economic depression and mass human suffering.

The dollar used to be backed by gold. Now, it's not backed by anything, so it has lost much of its value, causing the cost of living to soar.
Stop blaming capitalism for the failures of fiat ("paper") currency!

That's what Bernie Sanders, AOC, and Elizabeth Warren do. They are wrong.

We need to stop listening to them and start listening to people who advocate for sound money & free markets.

Want cheap college & healthcare? The answer is free markets and sound money that is actually backed by something and can't be debased/devalued/printed.

Socialism is only going to drag us all down. We'll all be poor together. That's the wrong path, folks.

I agree with him on this, but we should not be naive about the effects of tighter monetary policy when there are so many asset bubbles that have inflated around the world. You can't taper a Ponzi scheme...

After a decade of record low interest rates and quantitative easing, the global economy is absolutely saturated with malinvestments, bubbles, and other distortions.

Tightening monetary policy will expose those distortions, leading to a crisis:

Tlaib has already done what the thread below is asking for, but people tend not to know it because the news business itself isn’t ready to invest in centering and explicating her ideas—rather than a basic conflict story—for a mass audience.

1/ M&A in token economies is fascinating and under-discussed. Any other space with massive capitalization followed by a bear market would see significant consolidation. No so in crypto. Thread below curates some of the best thinking about what’s going on.
2/ Historically, M&A has been used as a way to acquire IP, talent or users/customers. When @coinbase hired LinkedIn’s Corp Dev star @emiliemc, some wondered whether this meant the industry was in for a new spate of acquisitions.
3/ In the exchanges and services space, this has certainly been the case, with @circlepay acquiring @Poloniex and @Coinbase going on a spree including @CipherBrowser, @earndotcom, broker-dealer Keystone Capital Corp, and decentralized exchange @ParadexIO.

#New PA cong. map increases D chance of winning the House majority by 4%. They only need a 6.8% generic ballot margin now (down from 7.7) to be favored.

Diff. will be closer to 10% in Nov when uncertainty from polls is ⬇️. Redraw is a very big deal.

One major reason the new PA map is such a big gain for Democrats is that it solidifies, not just tips, PA districts in Philly burbs. Also creates one additional vulnerable R district. (Easily seen in this map made by @JMilesColeman)
My forecasting model will have new PA map in the near future. This is not just a simple switch; it’s a coding redesign, restructuring of input, & drawing new geographic files. Takes a while (for me, a student).
