here’s the horseshit misdirection again that the AG concluded events were not obstruction because of the nature of the events when in reality he concluded *no events imaginable* could possibly constitute obstruction due to the absence of a preceding crime
this is absolute banana republic legal scholarship owing to barr’s erotic urges for an imperial presidency where executive power becomes effectively unlimited
in actual fact the mueller report explicitly identifies ten instances of obstruction and only fails to indict due to standing policy that the president cannot be indicted
the trump camp very much wants to avoid ending up in a discussion on this point and is instead banking on the ignorance of the american public, which lets face it is never a bad bet
it is in no way an exaggeration of bill barr’s philosophy to state he believes the president literally cannot commit a crime in the eyes of the DOJ
in the bill barr legal philosophy, the president could murder a staffer in plain view and fire the subsequent investigators all along the chain of command, but because he cannot be indicted for murder none of the firings can constitute obstruction
and this is ultimately why the president must be impeached - in the absence of impeachment the office will become an actual kingship and congress will become a token sidecar with zero power outside passing a perfunctory bill here or there
they really do not want this discussion gaining momentum
someone is eventually gonna ask mueller whether trump would’ve been indicted on obstruction were he anybody else who was not president and I really don’t think trump is gonna like the answer
