don’t underestimate the possibility president mashed potato brains has forgotten his narrative that *HE* walked away from the negotiations and substituted a new one where *the norks* walked away first
this would of course suggest that the first narrative was the lie and the new narrative is an accidental truth-telling, and a far more fitting scenario that he was willing to make concession after concession to stay in negotiations while kim jong un was the one playing hardball
in fact, this reading of his tweet makes a lot more sense than the interpretation where trump is seemingly admitting the cohen hearing distracted him, which would be a completely out of character admission of shortcoming
bottom line is that introducing the cohen hearing as a factor in nuclear negotiations that failed on extremely fuzzy and unclear grounds is a colossal blunder
even if he’s just bullshitting to save face as usual they had zero bearing on the breakdown, by introducing them as a factor now he’s once again cut out his own legs out and created a world where by his own admission he can be leveraged against his dirty laundry by world leaders
if he’s not bullshitting, either version of “the walk” he wants to choose ends in the same unenviable conclusion: his negotiation position as president is grossly undermined by his myriad investigations, and global leaders can use it to crack him
any actor, good or bad, now has confirmation that they can turn the screws on him in negotiations using his long trail of corruption investigations, and rather than punch back on the actor, he’ll come home and blame democrats - which many bad actors will happily exploit to no end
