Someone has put "adopt, don't shop" on their list of Earth Day tips, and so far today, three helpful people have sent me that list, and this is my polite, public request for everyone to cut that shit out.
We have five cats, three from reputable breeders, two from adoption centers, and none of them has stolen a spot from another, more deserving cat. I will probably never voluntarily have another non-Maine Coon cat for as long as I live.
The existence of shitty breeders does not make my "brand name" cats somehow evil or wrong, any more than the existence of shitty people who won't spay/neuter the cats they allow to go outside makes all domestic shorthairs bad cats.
How about we focus on keeping cats indoors, comprehensive spay/neuter programs, and ethical breeding for positive traits, rather than trying to say that these breeds humanity has spent centuries developing are now suddenly a bad thing?
