From @stephenkb. This is, really, the key Brexit question for the U.K. right now. (He’s talking about climate change. But insert your own policy priority, if you like.)
NB - both “no deal” and the Withdrawal Agreement probably force us, in different ways, down the “next decade devoted to reimagining the UK’s relationship with the EU” route, especially given the obvious deep divisions within the U.K. as to what achievable relationship we want.
But also fair to point out that “Remain” (if achieved) might not kill the issue: real risks of constant eyeing of exit door + neuralgic U.K. reaction to all EU developments.
On the other hand, after a Remain vote, public exhaustion might lead to a mass howl-down of anyone trying to raise the issue of EU membership again.
