In this and countless other similar ways, those who should know better help the betrayal myth worm its way into our politics, slowly eating away at our democracy.
Those who claim to support and admire our constitutional arrangements should, perhaps, reflect carefully before flouting the conventions on which they depend.
Those conventions include avoiding the cheap rhetoric of treachery, and not making personal attacks on those who cannot answer back, and for whose decisions politicians are responsible.
