A good day to remember the Radium Girls, and the Triangle Shirtwaist girls, and everybody who has ever suffered and died to make rich men richer.
Everything you own from the keyboard you're typing on to the roof over your head was built by someone, and nine times out of ten that someone was grossly undercompensated for their labor.
So, y'know, spare a thought for all the people who made everything from the shirt on your back to the shoes on your feet for maybe thirty seconds today.

I cannot describe how much I hate Jurassic World, its grasping desperation to latch tick-like onto the real emotions the original movie invoked, and its deeply, deeply, deeply fucked handling of women, but

It wants to pay homage, insofar as it thinks it can piggyback on the nostalgia that might invoke, but it also wants to coyly do shit like having its KILLERMONSTERVICIOUSSAURUS (that reads like the kind of dinosaur a six-year old would draw eating Optimus Prime) beat up the T-Rex
and having the two deeply unappealing teenager boys it dares the audience to give a shit about literally set fire to the WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH banner from the original film.

Also Chris Pratt is not Harrison Ford. He's not even Sam Neill.

I remember two moments very early on in my teaching career that led me to REALLY understand the importance of keyboard accessibility. They turned out to be pivotal moments that made web accessibility feel completely natural to me.
The first? In 1995 I bought my own computer, and noticed that there were really tiny screws on the back that I could remove. When it was time to get online, I bought my own modem (US Robotics 14.4 fax internal model) and endeavoured to install it myself.
I went for it but messed it up. I installed the modem on the right COM port but with the same IRQ as my mouse. I didn’t know any better //shrug

Farmers are being slaughtered in the most horrific, inhumane, sadistic, barbaric ways. They are tortured until they die, women raped for hours on end while their husband's are forced to watch, their heads are crushed and they are set alight.

20 *more* reasons I voted to leave for #Brexit.

1. The only people who get to influence the EU are those who support its aims and direction of travel. Everyone else is frozen out - even if elected to the Parliament. They are ringfenced.
2. It says it wants free and fair trade but the complexity of its own bureaucracy means it can always find ways within its labyrinth of rules to exclude produce for political reasons irrespective of international trade law.
3. Member states have no right of initiative in international organisations meaning that good ideas die in Brussels if one of the original six has an objection.
