Just read this @RosieGray profile of Katie McHugh and have some thoughts:

I was one of the 1st people on the right to publicly call out Katie for her bigotry in 2015. I took a lot of crap and abuse because of it. With that said, I believe in redemption.

@RosieGray Of course redemption has to be earned by actions, not just things you say. It's also good for others to see where this path of hatred leads.

The online trolls that cheered KM on at that time disappeared fairly quickly when it came to real life consequences.
@RosieGray I also think the details in the story reveal a lot. You can see the internal fight within Breitbart. There were good people, like BD, there that tried to fight the direction Bannon took the site in. He allowed and encouraged those views that unfairly stained AB's name.
@RosieGray In addition, DC has some great people who I really like, but the place also had a clear vetting problem at one point and was used as a pipeline for at least half a dozen awful people I can think of to reach mainstream conservative audiences.

150 rockets in one day being fired indiscriminately at civilian areas by the ruling government in Gaza. There will be no UN resolutions or condemnations. This is just considered normal now.
Israel is responding with airstrikes targeted specifically at Hamas and Islamic Jihad military targets. Worth noting Israeli airstrikes are preceded with warnings for people to clear the area to ensure limited collateral damage.

Of course the inevitable response from the UN and others will be statements urging restraint from both sides as if firing rockets indiscriminately at civilians and airstrikes targeted at infrastructure that supports those rockets are equivalent.

Perfect. Code Pink is outside the embassy lecturing Venezuelans that the actual bad guys are the people supporting them trying to remove the illegitimate brutal dictator that has starved, robbed, murdered, and imprisoned them.
For those that don’t know what is happening. Code Pink got the keys to the Venezuelan embassy from Maduro’s thugs in the U.S. They have occupied it since to protest US support for Juan Guiado. Actual Venezuelans showed up and have been trying to get them to leave.

So let's talk about free speech:

Supporters of fewer speech restrictions (like myself) argue that the most effective way to deal with truly bad speech is to counter it with good speech (instead of banning it). That's why we oppose even banning indisputably awful speech.
However, for that argument to win-out, good people have a responsibility to actually counter bad speech. If good people are silent when it comes to bad speech or try to justify it, then the argument no longer makes sense.
That's why when a popular artist is supporting and promoting one of the leading bigots in the country, silence or justification is inexcusable from people who claim to actually care about fewer restrictions on speech.

Okay, let’s start with the cover. My husband pointed out that the image has three upright cakes neatly lined up and the one blue cake that is fallen over. I assume that since there are four characters, the blue one is the autistic character. Out of place.

It is no surprise Twitter targets accounts for “wrong think” or as we on the #Right like to call it “free-think” this is because of two events which are now totally and utterly inextricably linked, #Brexit and #Trump and the Establishment have been rocked to the core. 2/15

Okay. So. It's time once again for me to do that thing I do: a deep dive into Trump's state of the union speech.
For new followers who've tuned in since the last time I did this, bear in mind I am not a factchecker. That's a different (though related) skill set and best done by people with the training, resources, and editorial oversight that I don't have.
What I do have is a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people who don't like long, reflective Twitter threads or believe it's possible to overthink something.
