Despite all the ghoulish warnings about turnout, looks like it's only a point or two lower than last year.
Getting the sense the Lib Dems could enjoy some really good results in the south against the Tories. Lib Dem source tells me they think they might win North East Somerset (Jacob Rees Mogg’s constituency). Right now it’s 35 Tories 17 LDs. Would be impressive.
Real north/south divide emerging. Labour doing better in the south than the north. Gaining 2 seats in Bracknell and Basildon, falling back in Liverpool and Bolton. Funny old night.
Cambridge results pretty much the same as before. Labour will be pleased not to have lost seats to Lib Dems. Possible Corbyn's hold on university cities and sort of seats he excelled in in 2017 remains undimmed (we just won't see many of them tonight).
Hearing from Lib Dem sources they think they've won Bath and North East Somerset, Chelmsford and North Norfolk. At the very upper end of expectations, if not beyond.
Am also hearing Lib Dems have taken control of Winchester council "with a solid majority".
Lib Dems have won 8 seats on Wokingham Council (Remain). They've won a seat in Wakefield Labour have held for 30 years (Leave).
CONFIRMED: Labour have taken control of Trafford Council from NOC. This could be where Jeremy Corbyn ends up tomorrow.
If I were Graham Brady, I might be looking to decamp to a seat in Cheshire, if not at the next election then certainly the one after that.
Really solid result for Labour in Trafford- up 6, Tories down 9. Maybe Sir Graham should be looking for that Cheshire pile a bit sooner than I thought.
In some of the seats in Trafford there were swings of more than 15% from the Tories to Labour. Stonking.
Another solid Lib Dem performance, this time in Welwyn Hatfield, Tories lose control, Conservatives down 3, Lib Dems up 4. Tories have held WH since 2002. They really are back.
