OK, now I'm finally on the train can start going through some of the stuff which has come in. Interesting result in Blackpool (where I'm heading now). Labour again going backwards in the town. If this keeps up Tories will be eyeing up Gordon Marsden's Blackpool South marginal.
Another poor result in the north for Labour, in Darlington. With the realignment of British politics the way it's going, if the Tories have any hope of ever getting a majority again, they must take this railway town (last won by the Tories in 1987). They're getting there. 
Then more Tory travails in the south. Same theme. Big rural area, in this case Sedegmoor in Somerset. Tories struggling, Lib Dems main beneficiaries but decent wins for Labour too. Problem for Lab is at a parliamentary level in these sorts of places it's mainly nowhere.
Middlesbrough, Labour since 1973, joins Ashfield and Bolsover in a list of rock solid Labour towns which have been seized by local independent groups. If this trend keeps up it could start to pose a real problem in Labour's local govt base.
And wow. Wow. Wow. Huge loss for Labour in North East Derbyshire. Never been held by the Tories before. Big gains mirroring their victory in the parliamentary seat in 2017. With Bolsover, NE Lincs, Ashfield and now this it’s been a terrible night for Labour in the East Midlands.
