Scottish history, MacDiarmid's poetry, the Spanish Civil War and the worth or (not) of Madonna's 'Holiday', which for some reason I played endlessly. When I campaigned against the anti-gay stance of Glasgow University Union she was my fiercest supporter...
Now some silly billies in heavily subisidised "gay organisations" throw accusations about homophobia at Joan, when the only contribution many ever made to extending gay rights was drinking pink champers at a Stonewall do.
Joan also campaigned against misogynists at the Union (yes @LiamFox we see you) who defended screening hard core porn at lunchtimes and held debates such as 'Rape is a Female Fantasy' in a place where the average age of female members was 19...
..Joan's still a warrior for women's rights and an enemy of misogynists, no matter how much make up they wear. I'm proud her courage is now being recognised across the political spectrum; including from brave gay men like @jonnnybest & @JournoStephen ...
..willing openly to disentangle themselves from the misleading alphabet soup of acronyms. 'Courage calls to courage everywhere'. If you live in Scotland please email your MSP and tell them they too should show some courage, and that you too back women's rights and @JoanMcAlpine

So, I've read and re-read this Escapist piece several times now, and it's a doozy:

There's some good points raised, and Pitts goes to great lengths throughout to condemn GG and laboriously describe exactly what it was.

But. (You knew there was a but.)
While the tone of the piece is strenuous condemnation, among the decrying of Milo Y's alt-right grift, and the very on-point "profit-driven hate mongering" as plenty of sites and individuals did cash-in on hate... There's these nuggets of text where the author throws GG a bone.
And I include the link because I actually want folks to read the piece for themselves, and trust that I'm not taking this out of context, because littered between the overt condemnations, there's moments like this.

This little "wait, what?" bit of eye-brow raising revisionism.🤔

could think of, Jungkook could create. But with every storm he creates, there’s an equal conscience on his strength based on how strong his storm was. No matter what weather it was he always started his picked weather around 10:30 am and ended it around 8:00 pm.
