I saw this thread about big earners moving to Canada and i feel I should share my experience.
I was employed by a multinational company in 2014 to head their legal department, when I was sourcing for the job,I just wanted to leave litigation becuase ive been underpayed for many years(no zeal without money)
Then the offer was more than what I would ever have dream of...apart from the salary being way too much than what i expected, the bonuses and private car was what i always see in movies.
So i got married to LOML,settled down and Nigeria seems to be the best place to live(its actually the best place to live when you have the money) taking each day as it comes, driving all sorts of cars i want..
Then i discovered that the more money you have, the more responsibilities that comes your way...even families that didnt know me when i was in uni will call me and start introducing themselves as baba baaba kini kan😏😏

Where were you when I had one suit??
Still life is beautiful, and i could afford whatever it is I want...and during this period I can testify to God's faithfulness in my family at large....new house, cars for dad and he even went for hajj.
But the truth of the matter is...is Nigeria a sane place to give your children a better life you dream of as a child?
In America or Canada,my son has a higher chance of joining the Army,Navy or even getting a job without knowing anybody...can we say the same in Nigeria?
Then no matter how much you earn in Nigeria, you are one big sickness away from poverty and then you start seeking for people's help on social media.
So i took the hard decision and started processing the Canadian dream( I kuku wan come here for studies some years back)..even my wife was like "you are spending so much money on this Canada, you are comfortable why not invest"
I told her i am doing it for the betterment of you and your children, i have gotten to a stage in my life...but what is the assurance that this job will be mine in 10years?will i go back to Ibadan and earn 30k or 20k?

What is the assurance that i will ever get a better job?
And as God will have it,my plan and God's plan worked out and the Canadian dream was achieved within a year...and my PR visa was approved less than 2months that i submitted.
Brethren, when i resigned from my office my secretary was looking at me as a mad man...i could imagine what was going through her mind that "how can you resign from a work that pays so well with no pressure or intimidation"
What she doesnt know is that I was looking at the larger picture, apart from the fact that I am no longer scared for my life and that of my family...Nigeria is a frustrating place.
Last year alone, Armed robbers came to my house 3 times...and Police station was just a trekkable distance to my house, despite reporting and informing them that some dudes behind my house are suspects because of so many things have seen happening there these idiots asked for...
..mobilization money...in their words "I wrote in my statement that they are like 6 dangerous looking guys and they need to use like 4 vans and like 10 armed police to confront them"Police station that is just 3 blocks away 4rm d house.Mind you i paid 1k b4 writing the statement!
So you can see Nigeria is a pathetic place no matter how much you earn,it wont guarantee some things for you...in fact the more you earn, the more you will become fearful for your life.
Ive been a for a month, and i can categorically say that leaving Nigeria is the best decision i've ever made in my life..
And for the little time ive been here, the Canadian govt has done more than what the Nigerian Govt has ever done for me in my entire life in Nigeria!
I was nearly reduced to tears when I found out things that we beg for in Nigeria.

~ free healthcare coverage for my entire family
~subsidized child day care
~Child benefits worth up to $700 every month
~food banks for 3months for new comers
~ And atleast saner clime for you
If its really about money, majority of Nigerians here wont relocate to Canada because most of us are really doing well in Nigeria....in a whatsapp group i belonged to...a bank manager left Nigeria last month and people were like why sir?.....
... he said "I just have to leave for my own mental state...the whole country is draining"

And we keep loosing our professionals to these countries!
And mind you dont think people that come here...come here to wash plates or sweep floors...lol,Federal skilled worker(Express Entry) is for skilled professionals and Canada needs you..so you can be a banker in Nigeria and get a banking job here...its only difficult for regulated
..professions because you need to write some papers before you can join your field here but all in all...people do get jobs in different positions when they come here.
My wife already had 3 interviews before we left Nigeria!
It might be tough for some people when they just land, trust me everybody has their Canadian experience and what is certain is that as far as you have a set goal and vision...i swear, you will make it here.

Dont underestimate your potential and dont expect too much!
One thing people do here is because some menial jobs pay well than some office jobs,so they wont pursue their careers again,so they get stucked doing these jobs because $$$$$ but when you come here aspire to go back to school and chase that dream
You can go back to school,as a PR the govt will subsidize your study and even give you student loan...they make everything easy for you!
So you lots shouldnt be surprise why big earners are leaving Nigeria to come here, basic things are not luxury here...they are just the normal way of life and how life should be lived.

Plus, Canadians are so niceeeee!
