Wonderful turnout for veterans’ breakfast.
I look forward to hosting an annual breakfast for RI veterans & their families every year. It’s a small gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices veterans have made. Today’s event was a celebration of homecomings.
I shared the story of RI’s Ray Haerry who survived Pearl Harbor attack on the USS Arizona. I had the chance to meet Mr. Haerry shortly before his death & just visited the @ArizonaMemorial where he was laid to rest at home alongside his shipmates in 2017. providencejournal.com/news/20170429/…
We heard from Wendy Marcus whose 98yo father Stanley Marcus earned during WWII the Czechoslovakian Legion of Merit. A Jewish immigrant, he liberated Nazi concentration camps. We got the medal home for him.
Autumn Williams shared the story of her heroic grandfather, Lt. John Dudley Crouchley, who died in WWII after his plane was shot down. He helped all 9 crewmen escape before the crash. His remains were finally brought home & buried in RI just last weekend. providencejournal.com/news/20190504/…

I do not believe Shanahan. This not being cleared through his office isn’t credible. If it was, he should be ashamed both for the decision and his lie. If it wasn’t, he should be steaming mad about being sidelined. You’re the SecDef!!

Five Senators, five days, six places: Canada, Greenland, Norway, Faroe Islands, Scotland, Iceland. Common theme? No U.S. #ChamberofCarbon-type industry-funded denial/obstruction groups, so everywhere clarity and progress on climate.
They see it in glaciers, oceans, fisheries, weather, animal life. No denying.
Underlying problem for U.S. is political system polluted with toxic levels of special-interest dark money. When you let big interests secretly buy influence, you get what we see: a government captive to secret special-interest influence.

Mefloquine & tafenoquine have been given to around 5,000 ADF personnel, mainly during a series of unethical drug trials involving 2,850 ADF troops in Bougainville & East Timor from 1999 to 2002.

Going to the border w a group of progressive #veterans & @Ocasio2018 NY14 organizers to respond to the #asylum crisis one of the most important actions this year. It reminded me of our collective power & #military veterans & families' unique strengths & instincts as organizers /1
Coming together quickly for urgent collective action, we realized most of us had a #military affiliation, whether we enlisted ourselves or our mother, uncles, or cousins served in uniform.

Nearly all of us were also #immigrant-connected— immigrants or the children of immigrants
Many #progressive military #veterans are wired w critical, transferable skills that make us incredibly effective organizers. Particularly in high pressure, chaotic situations

Chair promises a 2020 process that is fair. Will release a protocol on debates soon; expect debates in summer 2019 . Will decide by March 2019 the Host City for 2020 Convention: Houston, Miami Beach, or Milwaukee.
We have worked hard to rebuild trust on our presidential process. Rules and Bylaws Cttee working with early states on rules. A key rule change ends superdelegates voting 1st round absent consensus candidate BUT elected officials can still be PLEOs & not run against constituents.
The PLEO Party Leader Elected Official designation is for pledged delegates who are Members of Congress Governors etc who want a first round #DNC convention vote but don’t want to run against activist to get there.

(1) On 21/12/12, Navy SEAL Cmdr. W. Price took his own life while deployed in Afghanistan. Conspiracy "theorists" claim he was killed to cover up wrongdoing by HRC, but I'm convinced we lost this hero to combat-PTSD & suicide, & it's a cautionary tale.

(2) Yes, the article is in the failing NYT. I've found that not all of their stories are fake and anti-Trump. It's necessary to read a NYT story before deciding whether to believe it. The relevant facts in this case are drawn from the Navy's report, which appears credible to me.
(3) This story shows in stark relief what a great cost Obama's policies have been to the US and the world, and why the election of Trump & adequate congressional majorities was and is necessary for the survival of the Republic, and to have a chance at peace in the world.
