Greg, this myth's close cousin is "his base is holding." No it isn't. In '16 he got 46%. @FiveThirtyEight has DJT at 42, same spot as Ds 9 pt blow out in 2018. 10% of his '16 voters not happy w/him. He may be keeping most of his vote but he's not keeping enough to win in 2020.
2/Accurate read of 2020 now is Trump is in bad shape for re-election, and if he loses 2-3 more pts due to scandals or slowing economy he's toast. Intensity of his fight now is coming for many reasons but one of them is he losing the election and cannot afford any more slippage.
3/Trump's Presidency is abt weakness, failure, erosion. Almost nothing is going as promised. He's being pushed around by global leaders. He's the Babe Ruth of scandals. He's a terrible man and an awful President, and people know it. Thank u, next should be his campaign song.
