And this is what they mean when they say "everyone is being called a Nazi" .... basically, they want even self IDing, seig heiling Nazis to not be called Nazis. 
Are there occasional idiots that overuse the term .. sure. But if you're not a swastika waving genocide advocating anti semitic white nationalist then you probably shouldn't worry that those accusations will stick. I mean feminists get called 'feminazi' all the time.
Why these fucks worry though is because they fly too close to the alt right and it's promoters. Shermer actually funds the Rubin Report, which is an alt right propaganda platform.
Nevermind that these are the same pricks that won't bat an eyelid when the RationalGeniusBrainSkeptic community compares major religions to Nazism.
Another reason why they worry is because there are some troubling overlaps between white supremacist ideology and your regular GOP/ right wing Skeptic talking points. Fearmongering abt birthrates & immigration for one, that cld easily bleed into The Great Replacement type stuff.
