How often have you heard the argument that driving a car kills birds used against driving cars?
Then you should hear the argument of bird deaths used against wind turbines about 700 times less.
Over 100 replies too: lots of good questions (and answers).
I’m a birdwatcher myself, but the use of bird deaths against wind turbines is totally out of proportion.
The climate crisis is one of the world’s biggest problems. Birds killed by wind turbines is a small one.
And I’m all for further reducing the number of birds (and bats) killed per wind turbine, to as little as possible. Duh.
Quite a few people point out that cats only kill 1.85 billion small, clumsy, common birds (per year, in the US). I wouldn’t be to sure about their skills in avoiding rare species, by the way.
Nobody actually makes such a statement about the *cars*, that I used in the comparison.
