We're about 1.5 hours out from Manafort's sentencing, and so far I count 23 people waiting to get into the courtroom. The court has clearly marked the line parameters with ropes, a welcome change of scene from the *anarchy* of EDVA

The DOJ announced that it is creating a revamped unit to crack down on #FARA violations and they appointed former #Mueller/Special Counsel prosecutor Brandon Van Grack to oversee it.

They even mentioned #Skadden as a reason.

Hello from the federal courthouse in DC, where Roger Stone is *not* making his first court appearance (see: buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisg…), but Paul Manafort will be going before the judge on a hearing on the special counsel's claims that he lied after signing his plea deal
Paul Manafort's hearing is underway. Manafort just entered the courtroom, walking slowly and in a stilted manner, using a cane. He is wearing a dark suit, after the judge agreed he could do that (instead of wearing a jail uniform)
Judge Amy Berman Jackson said she has not made a decision yet about whether Manafort violated his plea deal — the filings raised questions for her. She says some of govt's submissions are confusing or lack context, and some of Manafort's filings are conclusory and lack specifics

The Manafort scheduling conference is underway (I'm in the media room, hence the ability to tweet). Perhaps noting the large crowd in the courtroom, the judge notes that today is *not* the sentencing hearing, just scheduling: "In case anyone is confused, this it not it."
Special counsel prosecutor Andrew Weissmann explains what obligations the govt contends it is relieved of since Manafort breached his deal, incl. no longer agreeing to a reduction for accepting responsibility and fully laying out *all* of Manafort's conduct before/after the deal
