Sam Nunberg started the week insisting he would defy a grand jury subpoena to turn over records and testify in the special counsel investigation — and he ended it showing up to the grand jury office buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/sam…
Reporters are not allowed into the grand jury office, and there's no public announcement of witnesses, but Nunberg's public act of defiance earlier in the week gave the press a rare heads up buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/sam…
Nunberg's lawyer Patrick Brackley just passed us in the lobby of the courthouse (no Nunberg), we asked how much longer it'll be and he said, "Who knows"
You can bring a lawyer with you when you go before a grand jury, but they can't actually go in with you when you testify - they have to wait outside, and you can step out to consult with them.
It has now been about six hours since Sam Nunberg arrived at the courthouse and went into the grand jury section. No sign of him since then; haven't seen his lawyer for a few hours. Earlier: buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/sam…
Sam Nunberg is apparently done, but hasn't come out yet. Meanwhile, special counsel prosecutor Andrew Weissmann just came *in* - went to a different floor than where the grand jury meets
Sam Nunberg has left the building, no comment to reporters
Prosecutor Andrew Weissmann also left the courthouse around the same time as Nunberg. So we appear to be done here for the night.
Sam Nunberg spent more than six hours on Friday in the grand jury office in DC — just a few days after he swore to defy a grand jury subpoena and said it would be "funny" if he got arrested buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/sam…
