I never really understood the whole “empty your cup” and “unlearn what you have learned” thing until maybe a couple of years ago. Like, intellectually it sorta made sense, but... is it really that big a deal?

It actually is, IMO, and I’m wondering now how I learned to see it
I think it might‘ve been a consequence of being exposed to a much larger number of people and having lots of conversations - over time I noticed that some people were bringing all their baggage to every conversation, while others were listening intently
“never be looking so hard for something that you fail to see what is there” - there’s a quote like this and I’ve seen people retweet saying “ah it’s about journalism” and others saying “ah it’s about scientific discovery” and “ah it’s about parenting”

I thought it was interesting how these birds seemed somewhat evenly distributed. Like, is there a minimum distance they keep apart, out of respect? But they like to be somewhat close-ish together? What are the dynamics of personal space in avian culture?

wife and I were visiting someone who just moved into their flat – and the elevator was just plastered with ads. But... I guess these ads are hyper-relevant for the people who are all moving in? So they probably don't really mind it that much? Still, funny, kinda trippy experience

Found some pics from my trip to Krabi, Thailand in 2015! This was from the airport + the bus ride to the hotel iirc
Took a pic of this at the hotel with the vague hope of investigating it later – it reminds me of Hindu iconography. Is it Vishnu? It looks like Vishnu. I've always been curious to investigate Hinduism's influence on Thai culture
As I mentioned before, I always make it a point to check out the local papers wherever I go. "City-state gets female president" that's my president! Who I didn't get to vote for, zzz

junk and high carb foods, focusing instead of meals high in protein (even though low in caloric content)

His "cardio" consisted of training karate, boxing and kendo. At one point he also tried swimming but failed miserably, being described as "sinking like a rock" in the pool.

Many pentests start from the outside, wanting to see how the perimeter might be breached.

This pentest started from the inside. My client wanted to assume they had already been breached, and, if breached, how far could an attacker go.

Could they stop me once I was inside?
So they snuck me in. Disguised me as a new employee. Gave me a work computer, an ID badge, an account in their system... hell, I even had a cubicle w/my assumed name on it.

The only person who knew who I really was was their CISO. Everyone else thought I was Jeremy in Marketing.

I want to tell you about a remarkable woman that you almost certainly haven't heard of.

Her name is Florence Ilott and, in 1934, she became the first person to run across Westminster Bridge within the twelve chimes of Big Ben at noon.
As a teenager, in the early 1930s, she started working at the House of Commons. She was one of the tea room staff and lived on the premises. She cried all through her first night as the chimes of Big Ben meant she was unable to sleep.
Her roommates told her not to worry and that she'd get used to the noise in no time. Sure enough, the next evening she slept like a log and never noticed the chimes at night again.

Here she is on a works trip in 1931.

2 -- the two objects, while not close to each other at all, will appear to be close to each other, almost on the same plane. Compressed perspective. The farther you are from those two objects, the closer they will appear together.
3 (that's how they do those pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge or Eiffle Tower with a ridiculously enormous moon). So, politically, what I'm seeing in politics in the U.S., is that the far right and the far left, are so far to each side...
