Notably, the NAACP resolution, which Sanders is proposing to endorse here is about public funding for ALL charter schools, not the much more limited subset of charter schools which are for-profit (only about 15% of charter schools).
CNN confuses the issue here by launching the article with a mention of "for-profit schools," a liberal bugaboo, before spending the rest of the entire article talking about ALL charter schools, 85% of which are not "for-profit."

Tbqh, it's not even clear from this article that CNN understands the distinction between 'for-profit' charter schools and, er, charter schools in general.

Some few states allow independent operators to run publicly-funded charter schools, and they get paid to do this. (These are "for-profit" charter schools.) But these are a tiny minority of charter schools, and they're not what the NAACP or Sanders is talking about.
