a good creativity rule with @instagram pinning is: if you see something moving, pin a face on it with a few separate emoji
to make this shot I pinned 4 separate assets

sometimes a pinned asset will suddenly appear rather than slide into frame.

It’s all based on precisely when and where you pin it, and I find it’s delightfully unpredictable!
I have found that city pigeons move at the perfect speed for pinning because

1) they’re clearly in a hurry
2) they’re not in such a hurry that they would fly
pigeons also tend to walk one way and then turn around and walk the other way. This creates wonderful potential for pinning
also the vertical frame in @instagram stories lets you create more depth and pin dialogue on bit characters in the distant background
sometimes the asset itself slides on top of the surface it’s pinned to - but notice it stops when it hits the edge.

again, this was accidental but created a perfect opportunity to tell the story
occasionally I pin an asset on nothing so that a fast moving object (like this sparrow) can push it off screen

this is particularly hard to control but it’s always fun to try
bottom line: just film some moving objects and then play around with the pins until you’re ✨inspired✨
In closing, I have found that observation of city wildlife is inherently rewarding and often truly hilarious
