I was doing research tonight and realized a Democratic U.S. Senator has had two official accounts on here for nearly ten years and has never tweeted the terms "trans" or "transgender" in all that time. Not a single time.
Not when Sec. Ash Carter announced trans folks would be allowed to serve.
Not when Trump announced the trans ban. Or any subsequent news cycles on that.
Not when trans kids were turned away by DoE.
Not any of the recent news items.
Not. A. Single. Time.

This is a warning to digital comms staff for Members of Congress: if your boss has time to give a shout-out to their fave sports team or muse about GoT or offer quirky commentary on whatever the hell, they have time to tweet about trans rights. We are watching.
I'm not going to name the senator because I'm not convinced that would be helpful, but I want elected officials to take notice that this matters. We need visibility, and you need to be using your platform to stand alongside us. You need to be proactive in your allyship.
