The cruel actions taken by the Trump-Pence administration this week have made it clear what advocates have spent the past two years telling anyone who will listen: this White House wants to see us harmed and erased. Donald Trump and Mike Pence want to see us die. (thread)
This is another day in a two-year campaign intended to normalize and enable violence and discrimination against trans people. Step by step, they are working to dehumanize us. They are trying to make it easier for the American public to see us killed.
They have ordered the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the country's top public health agency, to stop using the word "transgender" in official reports, and no rational explanation has been given for this. washingtonpost.com/national/healt…
They have ordered the Department of Education to turn away trans children with civil rights complaints, children who are targeted with violence and discrimination solely because of their gender identity. hrc.org/blog/departmen…
They have banned trans people from service in the military, going against the advice of military generals, medical experts, budget analysts, a bipartisan consensus of the U.S. House, and the vast majority of the American people. buzzfeednews.com/article/domini…
They have proposed regulations through HHS that would allow medical providers to deny even lifesaving care to trans people and other LGBTQ folks. Not transition care but ALL care. Heart attack? Broken arm? They can refuse to treat us. hrc.org/blog/trump-pen…

This is an all-out attack on not only the rights of trans people but our very existence in the public square. Trump and Pence don't just want to erase us. They want to see us die. That is not hyperbole. They are trying to dehumanize us and normalize our deaths.
Never have transgender people been under greater threat than under Donald Trump and Mike Pence. We need the public to wake up and fight back alongside us before it's too late. Consider this the five-alarm call. They are coming after us.
We have a lot to do, but this is what we need you to do right now: submit a public comment to protecttranshealth.org -- the more public comments against, the least justification HHS has to strip protections and deny medical care to trans people. Please do this now. /thread
I greatly appreciate the active empathy of allies, and I say this kindness: we need you to be self-sufficient in your advocacy. We need you to do the labor and research without hand-holding. We do not have the emotional bandwidth to make you feel better about all this.
