I used to think that global warming and co2 emissions are future problems, things we do not need to worry about in the present. But if you look at the weather extremities, damage to ocean life and the hazardous level of pollution in the air then you know that the prblm is real.
Due to human activities, the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide has been rising extensively and has now reached dangerous levels not seen in the last 3 million years. India's CO2 emissions grew by an estimated 4.6% in 2017 while largest contributors were China and USA.
The highest contributors to global warming are transportation, electricity n industrialisation but there are a lot of small things that we can do in our daily life to reduce our carbon footprints. It just needs a little bit of thought n mindfulness. Here are few such small steps:
1. Buy local and eat a more diversified diet including less meat and dairy to reduce your carbon emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuel-based fertilizers, pesticides, and gas required in production and transportation of the food you eat.
2. Carpooling and public transportation drastically reduce CO2 emissions by spreading them out over many riders.

3. Turn off lights you’re not using and when you leave the room. Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact flourescent or LED ones.
4. Little things like carrying glass bottles instead of buying plastic water bottles and using cloth or hemp bags to carry stuff instead of plastic bags goes a long way and is very much doable.
5. Buy gas and electricity from retailers who sell renewable power.

6. Avoid fast fashion and buy from companies that support the switch to a low-carbon future. An increasing number of businesses are committed to 100% renewable energy. Support them!
