There's a dude named STALIN JONES who works for Delta customer support whose job it is, apparently, to say "sorry you weren't pleased but too bad sucker, nothing anyone can do about it."

Talk about being born to do a particular job.
And I shouldn't have assumed it's a dude...it may not be, I just figured since Stalin was, himself, a dude that this was likely the case.
I just checked, and there are many, many people who go by "Stalin Jones" on Facebook. Who knew? facebook.com/search/people/…
And to have a corporation that exists solely for the purpose of making profit off of you say to you, right after ripping you off, that their policies "are made with the heart and intention of serving you better" is just...well, a few Russian novels from the 1920s come to mind.
Ok, I'm just going to complain a bit here because I can. I've been a customer of this company for 30 years, having flown almost 500K miles with them during that time. They've made tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars off of me.
Due to a scheduling conflict, I had to change my flight plans 3 weeks before I was due to fly. I switched from 2 completely booked (in high demand) flights to 2 almost empty flights. They're probably gonna resell my old tix for twice what I paid for them.
For this change in my flight plans the company ultimately took in an additional $500. It's all according to their stated policies. Nothing illegal happened. These are just bullsh*t policies they know they can get away with because there's no serious regulation of their industry.
My original ticket cost about $350. This is just rank extortion, and they know it, but they don't care...because their policies are designed to profit off of situations like this and they know air travelers don't have any better options.
I recognize this is pretty much the definition of "first world problems." But this problem of soulless corporations trying to placate customers by talking about their kind "heart and intentions" is a problem we all confront...and it's why we need more, not less, gov't oversight.
