This episode is like some Tennessee Williams play where everyone in the family agrees not to mention Cousin Cyrus around the aging patriarch for fear that it'll send him into a violent storming rage.
What I love is that the darling of the conservative "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd is such a wilting violet that his own military has to cover the name of a ship just to prevent him from succumbing to the vapors.
The whole "we love Western Civilization because of reason and science" crowd is deeply in love with the ultimate snowflake who thinks every climate scientist in the world is just a partisan hack (or a Chinese plant) out to get him.
A part of me is starting to think that there just might be something a bit more atavistic motivating all of that rhetoric about reason and science and "Western civilization"...

Let me get this straight. The far right has stacked the courts and will control them for a decade. They control the Senate and the White House. And they believe that if they lose the 2020 election they will be put into gulags?

I mean, who funds people who say stuff like this?
Seriously though. Read this thread...he's voicing an opinion that has become fairly widespread on the right, the opinion that the next election is not just any old election, but an election that could spell the end of America itself if the Dems win.
This is one of the negative consequences of the Trumpian take over of the GOP and conservatism more broadly. It's come to adopt his manichean, "you're a winner or a total loser" mentality.

@AOC The Twitter handle that tweeted out that video disappeared about 12 hours after it first went viral...but now it is back and has 21K followers.

DO NOT CUT OR CHANGE THE STAGE DIRECTIONS.
THAT IS PART OF THE PLAY. THERE'S A REASON.
You can always ask me for clarity or intention but don't ignore, cut or modify stage directions. Action, gesture, visual storytelling are as vital as dialogue.
I swear I even had someone add an intermission in the middle of a 90 page play. Just stuck it in.
WHAT. No.
You have to build dramatic structure that earns an act break, you don't just pause the play to go buy wine.
Storytelling is precise stuff.
Trust your storyteller.
Also *do not work with directors who do ignore the playwright.* Find and work with directors who respect the work. I'm always looking for awesome directors who get what the play is doing, not ones who force the play into what *they* are doing.
Serve the story. Trust the play.
