Deeply disappointing, though not surprising, that the @Telegraph @TheSun @Daily_Express either didn’t report on or barely mentioned MCB complaint to the @EHRC about rife Islamophobia in the Conservatives, actively promoted by some Tory MPs and candidates to be next PM. 1/3
.@BBCr4today asked one question on this today to James Cleverly (ex-Tory Deputy Chair). There was no follow up question after he claimed complaints are dealt with quickly despite evidence that many weren’t acted on & Hope Not Hate accusing Tory Chair of misleading the public. 2/3
If sections of the media continue to turn a blind eye to this prejudice we will never be able to tackle rising Islamophobia and racism in our society. It doesn’t help that some columnists and reporters in the right wing press have themselves stoked hostility towards Muslims. 3/3
