1/ 20 years ago today I fell in love with a weird, under-promoted cyberpunk kung fu movie called THE MATRIX. In celebration of this anniversary, here is a deep thread about the lore of #TheMatrix universe. Come along with me, and I’ll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
2/ The seminal first film in the trilogy hints at a world that goes far deeper than what we see on screen. Its two sequels (and a plethora of tie-in content) deepen the surrounding universe hugely, but even these don’t tell the whole story.
3/ (Some of the lore is detailed fairly well in the Architect scene in RELOADED, but it's hard to parse the information inside the over-complicated dialogue. Oh btw, total spoilers for the franchise here.)

Blade Runner 2049. Hard movie to thread. So much story is told in extended shots of the hero traveling through environments by himself, saying nothing to anyone.
The film uses music and imagery to at once reference the opening of the original but also demonstrate the differences. Where BR2019 began with a kind of romanticism, a warm skyline, a vaguely utopian musical theme, 2049 opens with bleakness, cold desolation, a menacing score.
The key to every story and design decision in 2049 is the fact that it’s 30 years since the events of 2019 — as in the world of 2019, as opposed to the world of 1982. The 2049 filmmakers created the future of a fictional reality laid out in 2019, not OUR future. Make sense?

How... how would Medicaid lifetime limits work.

I try so hard not to be the angry, reactionary, scorch-the-earth blogger that I used to let out every once in a while.

But things like "Medicaid lifetime limits" make it really difficult.
I mean, Medicaid doesn't give you cash. Or cake. It's not "fun". It doesn't send you on vacation, or keep the lights on, or get you free cable TV.

It pays the medical bills when you're sick.
