Went to @artinstitutechi to cheer myself up before evening meetings at #asco19.

My manuscript is no masterpiece. But I started thinking: what if our greatest artists had faced the fearsome Reviewer #2?

Today marks exactly 25 years since I lost my father to cancer.

Since it was his illness that catalyzed my career in oncology, I’m reflecting on what’s changed a quarter-century later, and what’s remained the same about this wretched disease.

There's still no right way to break bad news, but there are many wrong ways. Words matter. Especially words that force you to confront your own mortality.

Diagnosed at 42, my father called cancer a mid-life crisis that could prove closer to his life’s end.

He was right.

The way my Dad learned of his problem was as impersonal as possibly imaginable.

My family was immigrating to the US and we all had X-rays to rule out tuberculosis. A government official called to say there was no sign of TB.

Okay, so today we're not going to do the flag thread, because this one is _really huge_. Today, we're going to talk about how I'm going to do it, and what that means.
My normal resource for this is straight up looking at these things on wikipedia, and that's a great, useful resource but contributed by fans and enthusiasts.

It also presents a problem of scale.
Some states-and-territories have a tiny number of city flags; some have an ENORMOUS number. Obviously. I mean, Wyoming has two major cities! Some places that have like, more people than Iceland, have more cities!

I just realized I never made a thread talking about this so:

✨my experience on Stage K and meeting Twice - a thread
so for those who don’t know, stage k is a show made by jtbc whose basic premise is to have 4 teams of kpop cover dancers from different countries perform songs by their favorite artists in front of said artists
each episode is on a different group, and I was chosen to be on the usa team for the twice episode with 3 other girls! some teams were made up of people who knew each other already but none of us knew each other and we all lived too far apart to practice together beforehand oof

Hello Chicago! Police have closed the Dan Ryan expressway in order to make the point that protesters shutting down the freeway is bad.
This of course has made me late for the protest in which nobody will be allowed to shut down the expressway

In case you need a reminder that people are good, here’s a story in many tweets. At my office, we take turns cleaning the kitchen—wiping down counters, etc., plus on Friday, we clean out the two refrigerators. Today was my fridge day.
The deal with the fridge is, if someone has written their name on an item, you keep it. Unlabeled items get thrown away. It’s not the worst task, but it’s not all that fun. So I decided to make it fun.
I told my coworkers that for every labeled item, I’d donate a certain amount to the Greater #Chicago @FoodDepository. For every item I had to throw away, I would subtract (a lesser amount) from the total. I just kinda hoped this would make people label their stuff. But then...
