Hi! I tweeted about why! It’s so nice Jennifer Cohn can round up people to be angry like this.
Jennifer is a person who screams the exact same thing repeatedly and with no new information at anyone and everyone. I’m done - truly - getting dozens of tweets from her demanding things and questioning my priorities when she has no idea what I’m working on. Why would I tell her?
Jennifer is taken seriously by no person in this space because of the way she behaves and that is no ones fault but her very own.
I muted her months ago, but that doesn’t stop her followers from endlessly retweeting the absolute nonsense she tweets at and about me, whipping them up into a frenzy. This is easier. Twitter is a vile platform that encourages troll like behavior.
When she first got started she tweeted some nonsense about me. I told her it was false, and she called my office and we talked for nearly an hour. I’m accessible. I’m not - absolutely not - down to be trolled online by garbage takes from someone who accuses me of weird shit. Nope
There’s a fundamental difference between being open to criticism and open to harassment. Jennifer has crossed that line with multiple people and that’s the long and short of it. I owe none of you - nor does any journalist - insight into what I’m covering before it is published.
I also owe none of you an explanation for how I use this godforsaken platform, but YOLO.
At every single elections conference I’ve ever been to her bizarre, trolling behavior is discussed at length. What she’s doing and the way she behaves hurts her cause on a fundamental level. Public officials can’t say that, but guess what! I’m not a public official! Happy Friday!
The number of elections officials, journalists, advocates and non profit leaders who have reached out to me personally to say they wish they could stand up to Jennifer’s harassment of them is mind boggling and sad. So far, 14. Fourteen people.
She has struck gold with the type of anger she displays, attracting similarly angry people who flood mentions and hurl insults and question the integrity of whoever she deems to be worthy of her ire. It prevents productive conversations and intimidates. That’s crap.
